Greene County Chamber and GREEN Education Group Cosponsor Candidate Forum October 3rd

21 September 2005 - Greene Residents for Excellence in Education Now (GREEN) and the Greene County Chamber of Commerce will cosponsor a candidate forum for the Greene County Board of Supervisors on October 3rd at 7:00 p.m., at William Monroe Middle School. The forum will focus on issues related to education and the school system, business development, growth, and taxes. Neil Williamson, Executive Director of The Free Enterprise Forum, will moderate the event.

"The Chamber is excited to be a part of this event that will increase voter's knowledge about each of the candidates," said Alan Pyles, chairman of the newly formed Greene County Chamber.

Pauline Hovey, founder of the pro-education organization GREEN, said, "Many candidates have cited education and the schools as a key campaign issue. We hope to gain a better understanding of their positions on this issue and how education relates to economic development. All candidates graciously responded to questionnaires we sent them in advance, and we look forward to fully discussing their views next Monday night."

The October 3rd event is free and open to the public.
